Rules for reviewing and publishing materials

 The article and information about the authors are submitted in electronic form in one file, named after the name of the author (co-authors), in RTF format (in the Microsoft Word 2003 editor) with the printed version attached in one copy and on electronic media:

  • Times New Roman font, 14 pt; abstract, bibliography – 12 pt;
  • interval 1;
  • margins: top – 2 cm, bottom – 2 cm, left – 3 cm, right – 1 cm;
  • pages are not numbered;
  • A4 paper format;
  • the title of the article is written in the center in capital letters and highlighted in bold;
  • paragraph indentation – 1 cm, text alignment in width, sheet orientation – portrait.

Articles are accepted for consideration in Russian and English. The volume of the article, including figures, photographs, tables, references, bibliographic list in Russian, in English – up to 40 thousand characters. The originality of the text is not less than 75%.

Figures must be made clearly in black and white on white paper of the specified format, not exceeding the size of the text field. Drawings can be done manually (in black ink) or using software (in separate files), a scanner. Mandatory (if there is more than one) numbering of figures (in the format of Fig. 1, followed by the name of the figure, the name begins with a capital letter).

Tables in the text are drawn up by analogy with figures (in the format Table 1, followed by the name of the table, the name begins with a capital letter).

Photos are accepted in black and white, preferably in electronic form. Mandatory (if there is more than one) numbering of photographs (in the format of Fig. 1, followed by the subject (the object of the photograph), the type of image (the word photograph), the name (initials) and surname of the photographer, the date of the photograph, the place of shooting).

Scanned images (drawings, photographs) are submitted as separate files, in JPG format

Formulas must be typed in the Microsoft Word 2003 formula editor. Mandatory (if there is more than one) numbering of formulas in the format: (1).

Figures, tables, photographs, formulas are separated from the text by one line above and below.

At the beginning of the article, the UDC, the title of the article, the full name of the author (co-authors) are placed on the left.

Articles, translations and other materials should be submitted in electronic form, together with a printed copy, formatted according to our guidelines (see below), and with an abstract in English or Russian (in the latter case, the translation is provided by the editors).

The submitted texts are reviewed by the members of the editorial board who had read these in advance; the decision to publish, or to reject an article, a review, etc., is based on written reviews by at least two (or three, in some cases) members of the editorial board. These reviews are recorded in the minutes of a meeting of the editorial board. When necessary, the editorial board requests experts in particular fields who are not members to provide a written review of a submitted text.

The meetings are held four times a year. At the meetings, all submitted materials are discussed.

The reviews are kept by the editors and the publishing house for at least five years.

Copies of reviews, or a letter with the reasons for refusal are send to authors.

Copies of reviews are send to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation if a request from the Ministry has been received by the editorial board.

Editors prepare the submitted texts to print; the corrections by editors should be approved by authors.

Articles in English are translated into Russian by the members of editorial staff.

The articles in the journal are published after these had been reviewed, and the final decision of the editorial board has been made. A member of the editorial board informs an author of the board’s decision and, in cases, when such requests have been made, sends the reviews to the Expert boards of the VAC. The article accepted for publication should be submitted to the editor of the issue (a member of the editorial board) in electronic form (format *.doc). The article should be formatted according to the guidelines below and be proofread by its author, all quotations and references to sources and secondary literature should be checked carefully. The file should be named after the author’s surname (for example, Ivanov.doc).

The article should contain:

  • information on the author (initials, surname);
  • title;
  • abstract of the article in Russia (not more than 700 digits);
  • keywords in Russian (5-9 words);
  • main body of the text;
  • references formatted as automatic footnotes;
  • bibliography (list of sources and secondary literature) should be at the end of the article.

Together with the main file, which consists all of the above-mentioned components, the author should submit another file (format *.doc), named after the surname and institutional affiliation of the author (for example, Ivanov-MSU.doc) with the following information: — information about the author in Russian: name, patronymic and surname in full, academic degree and rank, position and job title, email address and telephone number; — information about the author in English: name, patronymic and surname in full, academic degree and rank, position and job title, email address; — abstract of the article in English corresponding with the Russian abstract — keywords in English corresponding to the keywords in Russian.

The guidelines for bibliography at the end of the article (according to ГОСТ Р 7.0.5–2008)

The full bibliography of all sources and secondary literature (in alphabetic order) is placed at the end of the article. The list should include all words used by the author. Each positions should include the following: author/authors, title, place and year of publication, publishing house, overall number of pages.

  • The reference should also include the names of editors, compilers, translators etc., and a series (if applicable).
  • The bibliography is not numbered.
  • The fields of description are separated by dots, not dots and dashes.

The list should also include electronic resources (electronic documents, databases, portals, websites, webpages, forums etc.) or their parts (sections of electronic documents, portals, websites, webpages, publications in e-journals, comments on forums, etc.).
